Why Pilates
Why with Kat?
Kat qualified for her Mat Pilates in 2012 and her Reformer Pilates in 2024. Her drive to train for a mat course came from a wish to expand rehabilitation exercises in Therapy but she soon realised Pilates had so much more to it.
She learnt that hard exercise isn’t always sweaty and the body can be challenged in so many more ways when precision, control and breath are used (just 3 of Jospeh Pilates 6 principles).
Have you ever been to a mat Pilates class and walked out thinking “that wasn’t too hard” or “that made my back hurt more”? It is likely that you either weren't doing it right or you weren’t in the right class!
Kat’s group classes are not available to book online as all members are screened for injury, suitability and knowledge. With this information she can identify the right class meaning you will get the session that challenges you best.
Small class numbers means you won’t be lost in the crowd and can expect corrections both verbal and physical!

A Helpful guide to group class types...
-
Beginner Classes
This class is suitable for all including complete beginners. It will have a refresh of the Pilates fundamentals at the start and move at a slower pace. Those at advanced level may not find it challenging enough.
-
Intermediate Classes
This is suitable for all levels excluding total beginners. Those newer to the Pilates journey will find it challenging and may need to take some of the easier options and those who are advanced will be given an opportunity to work on fundamentals. Most injuries will cope with this level.
-
Advanced Classes
This class moves relatively fast. A strong understanding of Pilates principles is required and those with injuries may not cope.
-
Fitness Pilates
This class will use weights as an additional equipment option. A good understanding of the Pilates principles is required but you DO NOT need to be confident with weights (or children!)
